We are sold out of the March kit! There was quite a bit of unexpected demand for this kit (in great part due to my hugely talented design team and their amazing creations!) Thanks to Kate Teague for creating the gorgeous A2Z papers and also for giving us a shout out on her blog!
Here's the kit and newsletter, and I'll post pics of the supplements and DT creations tomorrow.
This month, scrapologie invites you to join us on an imaginary journey to La Isla del Cielo, the Island of Heaven. Does such a place exist? Perhaps it is not known by that name to any modern day cartographer, but exist it surely does; in Polynesia, in the South Pacific, in the Caribbean, in the Greek Isles, and in any place on earth where warm ocean waters lap at sparkling sand beaches with heavenly blue skies overhead. It exists, most importantly, in the imagination. It’s the place that we escape to, to free ourselves from the rigors and stresses of daily life, the most perfect and beautiful of places on earth – because it is where imagination dwells. And it is from this abode of imagination that creativity is born. As we wait for spring to arrive, let’s take some time to pamper ourselves, to getaway and to nurture our creativity. Whether your getaway consists of a resort vacation, a remote island bungalow, or simply a luxurious bubble bath, some steel drum music for atmosphere and a tall cold beverage followed by an evening of uninterrupted scrapping, you will enjoy escaping for some needed time for yourself with scrapologie’s La Isla del Cielo kit.
Women are the great caretakers of the world. The roles that we play are innumerable and we tend to spread ourselves thin, saying yes to everyone, being everything to everyone, until we are burned out. Let’s dedicate some time for ourselves this month. Plan to take at least a half hour for yourself each day – whether you spend that time scrapping, luxuriating in the bath, painting your fingernails, reading a book, chatting with a girlfriend or curling up with a cup of tea, take time to pamper yourself and to getaway for just a while each day, even if it’s only in your mind. Go visit a travel agent and plan the trip of your dreams – even if it’s a few years off yet. Magical things happen when we put dreams down on paper and start to believe in them – things have a way of happening for us when we seek our heart’s desires. And that is what La Isla del Cielo is – that place of escape, our heart’s desire, that we don’t have to share with anyone else – where we truly can retreat to sun-drenched days, warm balmy nights and a relaxed pace of life, even if it’s only in our minds.
We have the tools to help you plan your personal getaway this month. All you need is some unstructured time and a little advanced planning. Make it fun. Pop some island music into your CD player, brew up some delicious tropical drinks (try a Blue Hawaiian!) and add a paper umbrella for flair! Invite your friends over for an evening of cropping or indulge in a night of solo scrapbooking with no interruptions! The idea is to escape and by doing so, to unleash your creativity. This month we’ll share scrapologie’s recommendations for music and fonts, as well as a wonderful drink recipe and a beauty recipe to pamper yourself with!
Scrapologie’s March kit, La Isla del Cielo, features gorgeous papers from a2z essentials’ Groovy line, designed by the fabulously talented Kate Teague. The color palette of sky blue and kiwi green paired with black and white is brilliant. Reminiscent of black sand beaches, verdant and lush vegetation, swaying palm trees and blissful aquamarine skies and seas, the patterns are repetitive and playful, calling to us to escape. We’ve taken our cues from these colors and created a wonderfully travel themed kit for you that is beautifully versatile for other layouts as well. The kit includes 12 patterned papers (the papers are double-sided so you receive two of each print, a total of 12 different patterns). You’ll also receive eight sheets of Bazzill cardstock in Green Tea, Lily White, Beetle Black and Jetstream. Embellishments include American Crafts Kennedy stickers in a coordinating blue and green palette, SEI Kinda Bold Cardstock Stickers in black, diecuts from the Groovy collection, Heidi Swapp Travel Themed Fuzzy Rub-Ons , two chipboard rectangle frames from Lil Davis Designs, six coaster board flowers from Gin-X, three enameled thank you charms from Making Memories in coordinating colors (perfect for cards), four large diecut photo corners, 8 American Crafts brads in medium blue and black, two premium American Crafts patterned ribbons in a green and white polka dot and sky blue floral, and one yard of May Arts ribbon in black and white polka dot.
We also have six gorgeous embellishment/supplement packages for you to choose from, packed with embellishments you’ll love, and with wonderful getaway names: sea and sky, island breeze, island flowers, treasures of the sea, mermaid’s necklace and sandcastles in the air. Each embellishment kit/supplement has carefully chosen items that coordinate perfectly with your Isla del Cielo kit. Photos of the supplements and the kit can be seen below and the supplements will be detailed in a separate thread in this forum later today. Supplements will go on sale tomorrow morning and as always, will be available in the store on a first come, first served basis.
Many of the studio girls said the March kit was their favorite yet – and their layouts certainly show that! The design team has created some truly fabulous projects this month and we are thrilled to share them with you at the end of this thread as well! We gave the girls some CD boxes from Target to alter and they made some amazing altered projects with them. (The CD Boxes aren't being sold as part of the kit or supplement but you can probably get them or something similar at Target!) I am always stunned at how these enormously talented ladies come up with such amazing designs, month after month! Be sure to check them out. One other thing, the Heidi Swapp fuzzy rubons were received a little later than hoped so the DT will have some extra layouts later this month utilizing those rub-ons - not all of the layouts have the rub-ons in them but we'll post them in this forum later this month. We’ll have a fun contest based on their layouts, in just a few days, so stay tuned for that as well!

And now we leave you with three recipes – a Balinese facial mask, courtesy of www.spaindex.com, to pamper your face, a delicious morning health drink and a recipe for a Blue Hawaiian to sip while you indulge in your getaway!
Spa Index Papaya Pumpkin Facial, courtesy of www.spaindex.com
• 2/3 cup fresh papaya, mashed
• 15 oz. can pure pumpkin
• 1 egg, beaten
1. Prepare the mask. Cut the papaya in half and scoop out the seeds. Scoop out the papaya fruit and mash it well to eliminate lumps in the mask. Beat the egg until it is frothy. Combine that with the papaya. Add the pumpkin to the egg/papaya mixture and whip together. You can also mix the ingredients in the blender or a food processor for an extra smooth mask.
2. Prepare your face. Wash with your daily cleanser and remove all residual makeup on your skin. Rinse with warm water. It's very important to have clean skin to ensure you get maximum benefits from the facial.
3. Apply the Mask. Cover your entire face, being careful to avoid the immediate eye area. If you have sensitive skin, test the mixture on your hand before spreading it on your face. You'll feel some tingling as the enzymes in the pumpkin go to work immediately -- gently exfoliating your top layer of skin. It works like a scrub without being abrasive to your skin. Leave the mask on for 10 minutes.
4. Rinse Off Mask. After you've relaxed for ten minutes it's time to rinse. The mask is fairly thick -- head for the kitchen sink.
5. Apply Toner & Moisturizer.
