We are in search of two new designers. If you're interested, read the information below. We will be accepting applications through February 15th. Please note, do not send us attachments of photos or layouts with your emailed application. Your submission work actually has to be uploaded to a special gallery we've created over at the scrapologie gallery. Any questions, please let me know.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
1) We are adding TWO designers to our existing team.
2) We are looking for two highly talented, versatile and creative individuals who are team players. We want to see fresh uses for product and innovative, out of the box thinking when it comes to layout design. Strong photography and digital skills are a plus.
3)We are fortunate at scrapologie to have a close-knit team. We are a second "family" here, so we are looking for someone who will be a good fit for us and conversely, we should be a good fit for you.
4) The commitment to scrapologie is exclusive as far as kit clubs go. Our designers cannot hold design team positions with competing kit clubs. Online store design teams are permissible as long as the store is not involved in the manufacture/sale of kits. Manufacturer design team appointments are fine. Having said this, anyone may apply - even if you're currently on another kit club design team, but if you are selected, you will be asked to choose between that commitment and this one.
5) Message board participation will be required.
6) Designers are required to create atleast three layouts utilizing the kit each month, one of which must be in a 12" x 12" format, plus atleast one altered item every three months.
7) What do our designers receive? Our designers are given a free kit each month containing the industry's latest and greatest products, plus extra supplemental products as compensation. There is a product discount as well - more detail on that will be provided to those who are selected for the team. There are other perks - free passes to CHA, opportunity to design with our vintage line kits, etc. We have some plans in 2007 that will bring national exposure to the site and consequently, to our designers.
The contest will run from January 15th through February 15th. We will announce the two new additions by February 25th, once the designers have been contacted and accepted their posts. The design team position is a commitment of six months. We will review whether or not you continue at the end of that term.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Your submission consists of two parts, an emailed application and the actual work you will submit. Please DO NOT email us layouts or projects - you will be uploading this to a gallery we've created for the contest. Please submit your application to [email protected]
Your emailed application should include: Name
Location - City, State and Country
Email address
Any CURRENT design team obligations (we don't need to know about past obligations)
A link to your online gallery (can be on another site, that's fine) and a link to your scrapologie gallery or your username in the scrapologie gallery (you must register in the scrapologie gallery to upload your layouts to the DT Contest Gallery).
Also, please answer the following questions:
1) Why are you a good fit for scrapologie, and why are we a good fit for you?
2)Site commitment and participation: I'd like to see your thoughts with regard to message board and site participation. We are looking for designers who are team players and are committed to being involved and posting regularly on our message board. I'd love to see how you would go about increasing general participation on our message board.
3) Do you have special skills or proficiency with photo-editing or design software? (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Digital Image Pro, Adobe Illustrator, etc.) Do you have any special photography or digital skills?
LAYOUT SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
4) Creative submission requirements will include TWO favorite layouts of your choice - one in a 12" x 12" format and one in an 8.5" x 11" format, an altered project or item of your choice, (these can all be past works that you have created, published or non-published, doesn't matter).
5) We also require that you submit one layout created especially for this search. The requirements are that:
*the layout may be either 8.5" x 11" OR 12" x 12" - your choice of size
* the topic/subject of this layout is to define or explain your artistic style as it pertains to scrapbooking, i.e., what is your "scrapping style?"
*it must have a combination of THREE different patterned papers from THREE different manufacturers on it. (you must provide the pattern name and the manufacturer for each of the three patterns)
* the layout must contain atleast ONE of the following TECHNIQUES:
1) Sewing on a layout
2) Hand Journaling AND Hand-Stamping (layout must include BOTH)
3) Combining computer Fonts to create a graphic look
4) Use of digital elements on a paper layout (we will not accept digital only layouts).
UPLOADING YOUR DESIGN TEAM LAYOUT/PROJECT ENTRIES:
Your creative submissions should be submitted in our gallery at www.scrapologie.com. Click on gallery and REGISTER in the gallery.
We have a private gallery set up for you to upload your layouts to. You will be able to upload your projects and layouts but will not be able to view them once uploaded. Once you upload your projects, you will receive a message that says "You do not have permission to view the images in this gallery".
Make sure you upload your layouts ONE AT A TIME. Do not upload more than one layout at a time (do not use the multiple upload feature.) We will contact you if there is any trouble with the upload. If you are not registered in the gallery, you need to make sure you do that as there will be no way for us to contact you if you upload your entry as an unregistered user. The gallery requires separate registration from
the message board and store, just fyi.
Don't forget, the new layout you are creating must identify the name of each pattern and manufacturer for the patterned paper requirement, please make sure we can read all journaling and identify the technique you chose to use.

Here is what you will see when you go to upload your layouts/projects:
Have you seen our gorgeous January Kit and supplements yet?? Here's the kit and add-on photos and newsletter!
Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous holiday season with family and loved ones. We have a breathtaking, romantic kit for you this month, just in time to help you craft beautiful projects for Valentine’s Day. I love Valentine’s Day because it not only reminds me how lucky I am to have found the perfect life partner, but it offers ample opportunity to tell all the people in my life who I love, how very important they are to me. I am a romantic. I love it all – classic romantic poetry, verses from Shakespeare, roses and chocolates, cards dripping with sentiment. I love old-fashioned paper valentines with cherubic cupids, hearts and doves. I miss the days of my childhood,
when valentines used to come with tiny paper envelopes to enclose them and featured beautiful, now vintage, illustrations that weren’t necessarily associated with a television or Disney characters. Do you remember the anticipation of Valentine’s Day back when you
were a child? You had most likely spent the previous evening carefully signing your name to each valentine from a box of lovely paper greetings. If there was a special someone in your class, you may have even written “I love you” in a childish scrawl! Or maybe
you created, with lace paper doilies, construction paper hearts, glitter and plenty of paste, a gorgeous shoebox mail receptacle to house your precious valentines. And of course there was the Valentine party – replete with cupcakes and candy hearts, red colored punch and heart shaped cookies, and pink and red favors. But none of this compared to the valentines you gave and received – the anticipation of making, giving and receiving sweet little greetings and the joys of counting and cherishing them, over and over! These memories of Valentine’s
past are memories that I hold close to my heart!
It’s these memories that have inspired our gorgeous January Kit, Fairy Tale Romance. We have some incredible, beautiful products for you to indulge in this month. The kit features a mix of papers from Foofala’s Red Black and Cream line, Basic Grey’s Blush Collection, and patterns from Mustard Moon and Daisy Ds as well as some “vintage” Foofala paper. You’ll love everything about this kit, from the sweet scalloped chipboard frame and flower, the darling silver pendant frame (wear it as a necklace with a memento of your love inside), to the gorgeous glittering Savannah Chipboard letters – reminiscent of childhood valentines dripping with glitter! You’ll love the gorgeous journaling rubons from Foofala, love themed rubons from My Mind’s Eye and the transparent frame and diecut. And let’s not forget the cardstock – including one glorious scalloped ruby red heart – for your ultimate valentine creation. You’ll receive four red arrow shaped photo turns – reminiscent of Cupid’s arrows and the piece de resistance – an utterly scrumptious mixed media flower from Prima – you have to see it
to believe how beautiful it is! We have a full array of gorgeous supplements for you, including three separate paper supplements, all with names to swoon over – Belle Amour, Chocolate Box, Love’s First Kiss, Foolish Heart, Queen of Hearts, Happily Ever After, Cupid,
Lovebirds, the much awaited (and very limited!) Charmed I’m Sure, My Sweet Valentine, Twitterpated and Sweetie Pie. Get them quick because quantities are limited! The supplements feature really beautiful products – a vintage glass beaded flower with a cabochon center,
heart and circle shaped coaster albums from Maya Road, Cupid and Queen of Hearts themed collage sheets from Alpha Stamps, beautiful notecard flats, including scallop edged silkscreened bird themed greetings and charming bookplates from The Paper Princess, lots of gorgeous crocheted pieces and romantic lace, embroidered jacquard ribbons, chipboard goodies from Delish Designs and Fraise Paint Condiments also from Delish, in lovely valentine colors, Seven Gypsies large portfolios (I made a valentine portfolio out of mine to hold all the vintage valentines I collect), a sweet spray of Lily of the Valley, and an utterly gorgeous charm bracelet for you to assemble –
dripping with charms. (The charms will vary but you’ll receive a tinful of a lovely mix of charms, buttons, glass and plastic beads and findings to create your own lovely bracelet. In addition, you’ll receive the bracelet, six charms from K & Company’s Maison Collection, and half a package of Foofala Red Black and Cream buttons for an even larger selection of buttons to add to your bracelet. Charm bracelets are such a fun and romantic collectible. We’ve included plenty for you to make a bracelet absolutely dripping with charms, but you might want to leave room to add some things from your own stash. The one I made has lots of meaning to me, as I chose charms that had significance for me and my husband. You will need a good jewelry making kit as it isn’t included with the bracelet supplement (I bought one for under $10 at my local craft store). You won’t believe how easy and fun it is to make the bracelet. Instructions for the charm bracelet will be posted in a week.
The design team has completed some utterly gorgeous projects, including coaster albums, portfolios from seven gypsies, altered frames,
cards, an adorable quote wall hanging and plenty of layout eye-candy. I hope you’ll love this month’s kit as much as we have at scrapologie, and wish all of you a very happy new year!
