Never a dull moment

 

I'll get back to the regular blog posts this evening - but I just had to share this with you.  This story got my attention via the Urban Outfitters blog. Here is something to add to your list of things NOT to do before you die, or should I say, not to do LEST you die. This guy is an adrenaline junkie. I admit, I won't even get on a coaster fully buckled in and seated. He made it to the bottom alive. Gives roller skating a whole new meaning.

June was such a busy month for me that I didn't get to post the little collection of bridal images I have for you. Since I have a few, I'll break them up into a couple more posts and we'll call it "bride of the month" as I like the idea of imagining that the bride in each visual represents a month in which the wedding is taking place. Here's January, February and March, in order:

 

Strawberries, Sugar & Cream

We eat a lot of strawberries around here, especially in the summertime. I meant to post these images with the strawberry cards I created awhile back (you can see them in my etsy store in the sidebar on the right). I can't get enough of strawberry graphics and images - hope you enjoy these!

Sweet Summer

Here's another peek at Jenni Bowlin's new Town Square collection that will be released at CHA next week. This layout utilizes the new Town Square papers, new JBS border stickers and alpha stickers.

Walking in the Rain and CHA Peeks

It's been raining here all day long. And we are due for more over the weekend. It's good for all the green growing things and I find myself not minding it too much. We have really had an exceptionally lovely summer so I can begrudge Mother Nature a few rainy days, I suppose!

It also gives me a chance to spend time one on one with Alekha who is usually outside with skinned knees and a tanned face, alternately towing and being towed at break-neck speed, down the sidewalk in a wooden wagon with a half dozen children - two piled in, four on foot, and Murphy racing alongside them while all the mothers watch with more than a little concern at the prospect of a potential accident.

So it's all good - I'll take it as a sign to retreat inwards and enjoy some good summer reads and make art.

Lately it's been CHA projects I've been knee deep in. Jenni Bowlin has some fabulous products coming out at CHA. Here are just a few peeks at some of the things I've been working on - there will be more in the coming days.

Jenni has some gorgeous new Halloween Bingo Cards and I had to create some fun projects with them. This first piece is a Boo Treat Bag. We have a neighborhood tradition at halloween of leaving a bag of treats on a neighbor's doorstep, ringing the bell and running away - and the neighbor repeats the favor with someone else, until the whole neighborhood has been "boo'd". So Jenni's jumbo bingo cards worked perfectly for that. I created a Halloween Boo Treat Bag with the larger bingo card:

 

The reverse side of the baggie contains a chocolate bar wrapped in JBS patterned paper and decorated with vintage witchy images and some more JBS new product coming soon!!

 

I used the mini versions of the bingo cards to create a mini collage:

 

 

 

If you haven't used Jenni's bingo cards - you are in for a real treat. They are so versatile. You can use them on cards, layouts, make banners out of them, or even use them for Home Decor. I did just that by popping one of the cards into a vintage style frame. I added some ribbon trim and glass glitter to one of Jenni's chipboard stars and buttons, et voila, instant and simple Halloween Decor! You can see more peeks on the JBS Inspiration Blog.  

Paper Lanterns

There is something so romantic about paper lanterns. I would love to have a moonlit soiree on a summer evening, under the canopy of a large leafy tree whose branches are hung with paper lanterns. If you're looking for some paper lanterns for decor or entertaining, you can buy them fairly economically and in a rainbow of (50+!) colors at Luna Bazaar.

 

Kids in a Candy Shop and Birthday Images

My baby (the one in the pink dress) turned 6 a couple of weeks ago and we had her birthday party last weekend at MJ's Candy Bar, so she and eight of her closest girlfriends could feel like kids in a candy shop. Literally. Nine little girls decorated plastic cups with foam stickers, played games, painted with watercolors, got tattoos, competed in a gumball relay and a licorice limbo contest, were feted on cupcakes and enough candy to keep them bouncing off the walls for the rest of the day, and left with goodie bags filled with treats and surprises. And we squired home one very happy and tired little six year old. And we didn't have to clean anything up, best of all.
