We have about a foot or more of snow outside and it's still falling. I'm wondering if this will be "the" big blizzard of 2010. I sure hope so, but at the same time, there is something very comforting and appealing about being able to stay at home when it's warm inside, you have plenty of comforts and loved ones to keep you company. It's a perfect weekend to hole yourself up and do something creative. Alekha wanted to get Wizard of Waverly Place Valentines this year, so we picked them up at Target and sat down the other night and addressed the Valentines together, after she had attempted about half the box on her own, adhering the accompanying stickers that were intended to go into little slots on the cards, directly on the valentines! Her class is making and decorating shoeboxes for valentine's day. I remember how enjoyable that activity was as a child so we went to Barnes and Noble a few days ago and read and purchased this book, which has a very sweet story about Ann Estelle making a Valentine shoebox.
I thought I'd post a collection of some of my older valentine projects, some created for scrapologie a few years ago. I still have and love these projects - and leave them out for reminiscing around Valentine's Day.
Here's a Valentine Garland I created a couple of years ago:
This one was one of my favorites - the little brass envelope was from Papier Valise
This was created for the One Heart, One World giveaway a few years ago:
Another little minibook:
I used an old Stila blush compact on this one:
This one was created with empty makeup (foundation) bottles:
And this was an idea from Better Homes & Gardens' Merry & Bright Book - I put a Valentine spin on their Christmas idea:
Stuffed birdies made with a Maya Road Chipboard birdie as a template:
A couple of valentine cards:
And a charm bracelet:
Whew! Uneblievably, there's even more, but I think I'll stop for now, I'm on valentine overload from looking at these. Hope they've inspired you to create something of your own this weekend. I'll wrap up with a vintage image. Stay safe and warm!
